OBIT: Aylene B. Buchanan

Aylene B. Buchanan, age 91, resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the Pavilion in Lebanon.

A memorial service will be held on Monday at 2PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Stacy Gonzalez officiating. The family will also visit with friends on Monday from 12-2PM at the funeral home. A private inurnment will be held at a later date at Rose Hill Cemetery. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on July 14, 1927 in Bear Springs, TN, Aylene was the daughter of the late Adrian Butts and the late Margaret Wallace Butts. She was Valedictorian of the Class of 1945 at Dover High School. Aylene worked as a Pharmacy Technician at Maury Regional Medical Center for ten years before retiring in 1992. Prior to that, she worked as the food service manager at Columbia Military Academy for ten years. Aylene was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Columbia. She was an excellent cook who also enjoyed gardening and playing Bridge. She loved hosting dinner parties, going on trips with her sisters and friends, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: Hunter Buchanan of Columbia, Mary (Randy) Wakefield of Carthage, Bren (Carter) Hardison of Columbia; brother: Jerry (Linda) Butts of Arizona; sisters: Dot (Claude) Wilson of South Carolina, Mary Lee (Morris) Herndon of Virginia; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: William Buchanan; son: Brooke Buchanan; and sisters: Carolyn Rodriguez, Maxine Bennett, and Martha Chandley.
