The Task Force has been working diligently over the past weeks to stay on top of the Coronavirus pandemic, specifically how it affects Smith County and its citizens. The number of positive cases in Tennessee and nationwide continue to increase sharply. As of Monday morning, there were a total of 505 confirmed positive cases in Tennessee. This number increased by 452 cases during a week’s time. Currently, there are two deaths in Tennessee which have been attributed to COVID-19. As of Monday morning, we have no confirmed positive cases in Smith County. However, we do have three individuals that are self-quaranteeing for the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) recommended time. The Tennessee Department of Health reports the daily numbers for Tennessee at 2 p.m. daily at the following site: https://www.tn.gov/health/cedep/ncov.html.
