Obit – Ernest “Pappy” Fields, Jr.
Ernest “Pappy” Fields, Jr., 71 of Buffalo Valley, Tennessee passed from this life Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Ernest was the owner of E & S Market in Baxter for many years making many friends and memories. He enjoyed life as a farmer and always liked to go riding looking at deer. As an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Buffalo Valley Church of Christ. Most importantly, he loved God and being with his family and friends.
Surviving are 1 Sister: Sue Mayberry of Buffalo Valley, TN.
3 brothers: Bro. Bennie (Vicki) Fields, Charles (Deborah) Fields, Lewis (Reba) Fields all of Chestnut Mound, TN.
And a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Ernest was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 45 years, Shirley Williams, paternal grandparents: Benton and Maddie Fields of the Double Springs community, maternal grandparents: Ed and Sina Flatt Stout of Jackson County, Carrie Grogan Stout of Elmwood, TN, parents: Houston and Pirley Fields of Buffalo Valley, TN, 1 brother: Harold Fields and 1 sister: Roise Jean Smith.
Funeral services for Mr. Fields will be held Friday, October 9, 2020, beginning at 11:00 am from the chapel of Presley Funeral Home located at 695 Buffalo Valley Rd. Cookeville, TN 38501, with Bro Chris Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow in the Flatt and Woolbright Cemetery in Gainesboro, TN.
The family will receive friends at Presley Funeral Home Thursday, October 8, 2020, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and again on Friday from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am.
Arrangements are entrusted to Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
