Youth victim of tragic accident

A nine year old boy was the victim of a tragic accident over the weekend.

Funeral services for Matthew Climer, Carthage, were to be conducted from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home at 1 p.m., Thursday, October 17.

The accident occurred around 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at 209 Fite Avenue East in Carthage.

The accident involved a 2019 Dodge Caravan and was investigated by the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP).

According to the THP accident report, “the Dodge Caravan entered the roadway (Fite Avenue East) in reverse from a residential driveway and struck a standing tree. The driver of the vehicle (the nine year old) suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision”.

Those familiar with the accident say an adult was working on the vehicle when the incident occurred.
