Obit – Mrs. Robbie Albritton Maddux
Mrs. Robbie Albritton Maddux, a homemaker of South Carthage, was pronounced deceased at 1:20 P.m. Wednesday afternoon February 12, 2025 at the Smith County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage where she had made her home since April 15, 2022.
Mrs. Maddux was at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home and had requested to be cremated and that will be performed at the Cumberland Family Services in Algood.
No plans for a Celebration of Life have been planned at this time.
She was the last surviving of thirteen children (ten of which reached adulthood) of the late Jessie Washington Albritton who died on February 27, 1947 at the age of 50 and Bessie Mae Farmer Albritton who died January 11, 1978 at the age of 73 and was born Robbie Doris Albritton in the Riddleton Community.
She was preceded in death by a grandson who died as the result of a motorcycle accident, Jason Matthew Kemp, who died November 12, 2017 at the age of 27 and by her son-in-law, John Morgan Kemp who died August 30, 1970 at the age of 70.
Siblings preceding her in death were Hattie Mai Albritton, Martha Albritton Holmes, Harold Albritton, Thurman Albritton, Vernon H. Mardelle Albritton who died July 20, 1945 at the age of 16, Eld. Johnny Elmer Albritton who died April 17, 2011 at the age of 85, Alvin Franklin “Frank” Albritton who died June 24, 1993 at the age of 61, Jessie Howard “Shorty” Albritton who died April 15, 2015 at the age of 86 and Gladys Marie Albritton Roberts who died June 9, 2015 at the age of 74.
Mrs. Maddux was of the Pentecostal belief and had attended the Carthage Church of God.
Surviving are her three children, Jeffery Mofield of South Carthage, Floyd Allen “Buck” Mofield and wife Barbara of the Popes Hill Community, Jammie Kemp of the Rome Community; grandson, John Kemp Jr. and wife Misty; great granddaughter, Amelia Kemp.
