Obit – Jimmy Alvis
Jimmy Alvis, age 85, of Lebanon, passed away on March 15, 2025. The Service was at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at Sellars Funeral Home in Lebanon conducted by Brother Shane Smith. Family and friends served as Pallbearers. Interment followed at the Gordonsville Cemetery.
James Thomas Alvis was born in Carthage TN to Julie Myrtle Connors Alvis and Jimmie Alvis. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve, then served a full term in the U.S. Navy. Jimmy married Darlene Preston and together they built a good life. Jimmy was a hard worker and was always helping others. He enjoyed being outdoors, in nature, in God’s country, working on the farm. He was pretty good at vehicle repair too.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Darlene Alvis, daughter Regina Elizabeth Alvis Moss, grandchildren James Slayer Moss, Joseph Stelth Moss, and John Striker Alvis Moss, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents Myrtle and Jimmie Alvis, sisters JoAnn Wade, Della Hesson, Kathleen Barrett, and Kate Hunt, and brothers Floyd. Lloyd, and James Alvis.
