Obit – Mrs. Dianna Williams Shoulders
Following a long and courageous battle with cancer, Mrs. Dianna Williams Shoulders succumbed to the illness and was pronounced deceased at 8:41 a.m. Thursday morning February 26, 2026 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon March 1st at 3 p.m. from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home with her pastor, Eld. Matt Brown, assisted by Eld. Gary Simons, officiating. Burial followed in the Shoulders family lot in the Gazebo Garden at the Dixon Springs Cemetery with Eld. Rickey Day officiating.
Born Dianna Sue Williams on February 2, 1955 at the former Petty Green Clinic in Carthage, she was one of four children, the youngest of three daughters and an infant son, Roy Glenn Williams Jr. and the first-born child who died at birth on November 6, 1944, and was the daughter of the late Roy Glenn Williams Sr. who died November 18, 1983 at the age of 61 and Bonnie Nell Jones Williams who died June 5, 2008 at the age of 87.
Her father-in-law, Jack Douglas “Daddy Jack” Shoulders died at the age of 81 on October 22, 2016, her brother-in-law Michael Gene “Mike” Shoulders preceded her in death at the age of 65 on August 2, 2023 and her nephew, Chad Dickerson, died at the age of 5 on February 6, 1981.
Dianna was a member of the 1972 graduating class at Smith County High School where she graduated in the top ten of her class. She graduated with a triple major in home economics, business and music.
At the Montrose Church of Christ in the Defeated Creek Community, she was united in marriage to then Riddleton Community resident Ricky Douglas Shoulders. The ceremony was officiated by Donald Chaffin on September 22, 1973.
She was saved at the age of 20 and was baptized into the full fellowship of the Maces Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she remained faithful in attendance as long as her health permitted.
As a devoted husband and wife, she and Ricky were always seen together, whether it was at church, their daughter or granddaughter’s activities, or working together at Shoulders T. V. which they owned and operated for forty-five years before retiring in 2003.
Mrs. Shoulders battled cancer for a total of five times in the form of breast cancer, lymphoma and acute leukemia.
She enjoyed scrapbooking, traveling, and spending time with their family. Her love for Ricky, Holly, Lance, Hannah, Nate, and Bella was unparalleled to any other things in her life.
Surviving in addition to her husband Ricky of over fifty three years is their daughter, Holly Shoulders Anderson and husband Lance of the Tanglewood Community; two granddaughters, Hannah Anderson of the Tanglewood Community and Hannah’s boyfriend Nate Martinez of Lebanon and Bella Anderson also of the Tanglewood Community; mother-in-law, Shirley Shoulders of Carthage; two sisters, Glenda Williams Dickerson and husband Mike of the Pleasant Shade Community, Janice Williams Thomas and husband Dave of Lafayette; sister-in-law, Jane Jones Shoulders of Carthage; niece, Erica Shoulders Goad and husband Jared of Carthage; four nephews, Jacky Shoulders and wife Vasi of Illinois, Todd Dickerson and wife Angie, Kevin Dickerson and wife Hailey all of the Pleasant Shade Community, Troy Moss and wife Robin of Russellville, Kentucky.
The Shoulders family has requested memorials to the Maces Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
