Obit – Mr. Jeff Thomas

Mr. Jeff Thomas, age 59 of Essex, Massachusetts, died on Sunday, March 1, 2026 in Massachusetts.

A memorial gathering was held on Saturday, March 21 at the Rose Building on the square in Carthage.

Born Jeffery Dale Thomas in Difficult on February 15, 1967, he was the son of the late Roger Thomas, and Rebecca Woodard Anderson who survives.  In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a half-brother, Christopher Thomas; his maternal grandparents, Bradley & Lucy Woodard; his paternal grandparents, Lon & Pearl Thomas.

Jeff was a 1985 graduate of Smith County High School.  He received his Associate of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology and worked for many years in the radiology department of Carthage General Hospital and Riverview Regional Medical Center.  After relocating to Essex in 2015, Jeff attended the Spa Tech Institute and became a Licensed Massage Therapist and practiced for several years.  He later took the role of Administrative Clerk for the Essex Board of Health where he was awarded employee of the year in 2024.

Surviving in addition to his mother Rebecca & step-father Prentice Anderson is his husband, Gary of Essex, MA; sister, Anita Ray & husband Bobby of Carthage, half-sister, Amberly Lucky of Illinois; step-sister, Penny Anderson Thaxton & husband Johnny of Carthage; several nieces, nephews, and extended family; beloved dogs, Snoopy & Lucy.

The Thomas family has requested memorials to the Northeast Animal Shelter in Massachusetts.
