Obit – Bro. Frank Eddie Blair
Retired longtime United Methodist pastor, Bro. Frank Eddie Blair age 88 of Murfreesboro, died Tuesday May 19, 2026 at 8:10 a.m. at Alive Hospice Residence in Murfreesboro.
Graveside services and interment were at 11 a.m. Monday May 25th in the Garden of Everlasting Life at the Smith County Memorial Gardens.
The Blair family received friends on Sunday May 24th at Woodfin Memorial Chapel in Murfreesboro from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. The family received friends at Smith County Memorial Gardens on Monday following the 11 a.m. graveside.
A native of the Dillards Creek Community of Smith County, he was one of ten children, four daughters and six sons and the last surviving child of the late Shafter Blair who died at the age of 75 on November 19, 1974 and Effie Dickens Blair who died at the age of 68 on August 28, 1972.
Mr. Blair was also preceded in death by his nine siblings, Hugh Lee Blair who died December 22, 2001 at the age of 79, Virginia Sadie Blair Smallwood who died September 27, 1991 at the age of 67, Rev. Walter Wesley Blair who died October 7, 1983 at the age of 58, Melba Eloise (Elois) Blair Reece who died June 9, 2016 at the age of 88, Rev. Ernest Ernelda “Toby” Blair who died October 19, 2018 at the age of 89, Margaret Nell Blair Porch who died January 6, 2005 at the age of 73, James Oshel “Zeb” Blair who died May 20, 2005 at the age of 71, Frank Wilburn Blair who died December 13,2018 at the age of 78, and Bessie Mai Blair Napier who died March 2, 2023 at the age of 80.
Mr. Blair was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a retired Methodist minister.
He was a 1955 graduate of Smith County High School, received his Bachelor of Arts from Scarritt College, and his Master of Divinity from Vanderbilt University. His statement made in the “55 Owl yearbook was “Think twice before you speak.”
Mr. Blair is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Maggart Community native, Doris Ann Bush Blair; two sons, Leland Bruce Blair of Morgantown, West Virginia, Nolan Clark Blair and his wife Tamera of the Christiana Community in Rutherford County, two grandchildren, Devin and Nolan Blair.
