GRANT AREA TRACTOR ACCIDENT FATAL

A man was killed in a tractor accident which occurred on his farm near the Grant community.

Larry Pontious was bush hogging along the driveway leading to his home when the tractor he was operating overturned.

The area where the tractor overturned was sloping and along a ditch, Emergency Management Agency Director Sonny Carter said.

The victim was deceased at the scene and pinned underneath the tractor, Carter said. The accident occurred at 241 Opossum Hollow Road (a Watertown address).

“A neighbor was passing by the road and saw the tractor overturned,” Carter said.

The ambulance service, rescue squad and sheriff’s department were dispatched to the scene.

A wrecker was also dispatched to the scene to upright the tractor.
