By Shea Haile Courier Sports

HARTSVILLE — The objective was simple for the Gordonsville High Tigers football team last Friday night — take down long time nemesis and region foe Trousdale County on the storied “Creekbank” and secure the 4-2A throne and top-seed for the second straight season.

The Tigers accomplished their mission emphatically with a dominant 42-0 triumph over the Yellow Jackets.

“I thought we had a really good week of practice,” said Gordonsville head coach Stephen Jackson. “I thought our kids did a great job this week of really understanding what we wanted to do offensively and defensively. The kids came out — played great and with a lot of effort. I am just really excited for them.”

Gordonsville improved to 7-1 overall and maintained their perfect mark in region play at 3-0.

Trousdale County fell to 3-5 overall and 1-2 in region play.

The 42-0 victory was Big Blue’s most dominant win in the series since 1987 when the Tigers claimed a 50-0 win.
