OBIT: Mr. Lewis Wood, Age 50 Of Carthage, TN

Mr. Lewis Wood, age 50 of Carthage, TN passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016.

Lewis was born April 16, 1966 in Portland, TN, and was the son of the late Orlie James Wood, who passed away November 3, 2008, and Arlene Dodson Wood. He was a 1985 graduate of Gordonsville High School. Lewis played on the 1983 Class A State Runner-up and 1984 Class A State Championship football teams while at GHS. Lewis was a Christian and was a member of the Carthage Road Baptist Church.

Mr. Wood is survived by Son; Blake Wood of Carthage. Mother; Arlene Wood of Gordonsville, TN. Carol (Danny) Cook of Franklin, KY, Sharon (James) Bush of New Middleton, TN, Janet (Eddie) Thomas of Hickman, TN, Terry Wood of Studio City, CA, and Pam Malone of Lebanon, TN. Brother; Danny (Susan) Shaw of Carthage, TN, and Larry Shaw of Kentucky. 9 nieces and nephews and 20 great nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Wood are scheduled to be conducted from the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 2PM with Mark Medley and Bro. Ray Gilder officiating. Interment will follow in Gordonsville Cemetery.

Visitation with the Wood family will be held at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Saturday from 2PM until 8PM and on Sunday after 10am until service time at 2PM.

In lieu of flowers, the Wood family requests memorials in his memory be made to the Carthage City Fire Department.
