NEW ROUGH WATER WARNING SYSTEM AT DAM
NEW ROUGH WATER WARNING SYSTEM AT DAM
A new system is in place at the Cordell Hull Dam to warn boaters of hazardous conditions during periods when water is released from the dam.
The new system includes a metal sign with a flashing light warning of dangerous waters.
Also, flashing lights are now located on the spillway section of the dam.
Lights will flash when water is being released from the dam.
In addition to the Cordell Hull Dam, systems have been at Center Hill, Dale Hollow, Barkley, Cheatham, Old Hickory, J. Percy Priest and Wolf Creek dams.
“The implementation of these spillway warning systems is the final piece of the public safety plan the Nashville District began putting in place after the passage of the Freedom to Fish Act by Congress in 2013,” said Andreas Patterson, chief of the natural resources management branch.
