Officer Disciplined 8 Times While Serving With Department

South Carthage police officer Frank Geisenhoffer resigned following the revelation of secret tape recordings made while the officer was on duty.

Geisenhoffer was working under a one year probationary period for crude and sexually-oriented comments and a request for nude cell phone photographs from a female convenience store clerk who made the recordings.

“He voluntarily submitted his resignation to Mayor (Jimmy) Wheeler,” South Carthage City Attorney Richard Brooks said, Friday morning.

Prior to the probationary period, Geisenhoffer was suspended for two weeks without pay by South Carthage Police Chief David Long.

Chief Long also banned the officer from entering the convenience market where the female clerk works.

The officer’s resignation comes after a News Channel 5 investigation in which excerpts from the secretly recorded tapes were played of the former officer making sexually explicit comments and a request for a nude cell phone photo from the clerk while he was on duty.
