TWO LIQUOR STORES MAY OPEN IN TOWN

Two business owners are seeking to establish liquor stores in Carthage.

Separate public notices ran in the February 2, February 9 and February 16 editions of the Courier for each store.

Public notices are required by state law to alert residents of business owners’ intentions to open package liquor stores.

One of the public notices stated Madhuben Patel, a Springfield resident, has applied to the town of Carthage for a “certificate of compliance” and “has or will” apply to the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission in Nashville for a retail liquor license.

The public notice is being sought for a store which will be named Carthage Wine and Liquor Inc. and located at 41 Dixon Springs Highway in Carthage, according to the public notice.

A second public notice notes Viral Golwala, Dixon Springs Highway in Carthage, has applied for a certificate of compliance to the town of Carthage for a retail liquor license for a “store which will be named Main Street Wine and Liquor Inc.”

According to the public notice, the store will be located at “105 Main Street North” in Carthage.
