SMITH CO. BOE SEARCH FOR LAND
SMITH CO. BOE SEARCH FOR LAND
The school system’s search for land to construct a new school building in Gordonsville continues to move forward.
Last month, the county’s school board requested Director of Schools Barry Smith begin searching for a tract of land for a new school building.
During this month’s meeting, board members gave the director the authority to negotiate a price for a tract of land large enough for a new school building and enter an option to purchase agreement with the property owner.
An option to purchase would allow school officials time to hire an engineering firm to determine if the tract of land is suitable for a school building.
Overcrowding at Gordonsville Elementary School has spurred discussion for a new school building in the Gordonsville area.
However, the new school will not necessarily be an elementary school.
