A man known by numerous law enforcement agencies in the mid-state, including Smith County, is reportedly being sought, yet again. Christopher Daniel Gay, 44, who has lived at various locations in the mid-state and known as “Little Houdini”, is reportedly wanted in Rutherford County. According to News Channel 5 in Nashville, Gay is wanted by law enforcement authorities in a theft investigation.
Gay gained his nickname for his run-ins with the law and ability to escape police custody. Gay has reportedly escaped custody as many as eight times. In March of 2017, local police crossed paths with Gay while investigating the theft of a front-end loader which was parked in the Tanglewood community. In the fall of 2017, Gay was taken into custody in Sumner County for charges there.
In March of this year, Gay was released by Sumner County and brought to the Smith County Jail to face local theft charges.
