TRAFFIC STOP NETS 2 SUSPECTS

A traffic stop made by the sheriff’s department’s canine unit resulted in multiple drug related charges.

Sgt. Ridge Long stopped a vehicle traveling on Dixon Springs Highway for speeding.

According to an offense report filed by Sgt. Long, the officer smelled a strong odor of “raw marijuana” coming from the vehicle which had two subjects inside.

“Upon conducting a search of the vehicle approximately 16 grams of marijuana was found and five Amphetamine pills and a crushed green like substance which one of the occupants identified as Xanax, as well as a marijuana pipe and grinder were found. A loaded Springfield XD handgun was also found during a search of the vehicle.”
