‘NORMAL’ SCHOOL YEAR COULD BEGIN IN AUGUST

The 2020-2021 school year came to a close last week. More importantly, it provided a glimpses into how the next school year will begin. All students are likely to return to in-person learning in August for what could be a “normal” school year, after an unimaginable 2020-2021 school year.

During the final school board meeting before schools dismissed for summer break, Director of Schools Barry Smith told school board members, “I believe there’s only one case (COVID-19) in the school system right now”. Throughout much of this past school year, school board members became accustomed to monthly updates as to how the pandemic was affecting day-to-day operations because of the high number of absentees.
