PUBLIC NOTICE from the Smith County Clerk’s Offi ce Clifa Norris As of January 1st, 2024, the state has changed the fees for registration renewals for electric vehicles. They have also added a fee for hybrid vehicles. As of 1/1/24, the fee for electric vehicles has increased to $200 PLUS the renewal fee. The fee that was added for hybrid vehicles is now $100 PLUS the renewal fee. These added fees are in lieu of the gas tax. We were not aware of this change until toward the end of December. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please remember this was put into place at the state level, and not local government. These fees are also subject to change 1/1/2027.

Request for Proposals The Town of Carthage desires to replace the present Town Hall and Police Department building. The Town is seeking proposals for either of the following real estate meeting the Town’s needs. Land: Building: The Town is seeking land for the future construction of a replacement Town Hall and Police Department building for the aging facility presently occupied. The land must meet the following criteria: 1) Must be located within the city limits. 2) Must have 250’ x 250’ depth and width. Election Notice March 5, 2024 Elderly Voters or Voters with Disabilities Pursuant to T.C.A. § 2-3-109 (E) any elderly voter (60 years or older) or a voter with a disability whose polling place is inaccessible may vote at the election commission office on Election Day, vote by absentee ballot or vote early by personal appearance during the dates specified for early voting at the Election Commission Office.
