ROBERTS conveyed to WALTER G. Mike Nixon, Land Use Administrator Ronald King made a rezoning request for his property at Map 049, Parcel 005.09. This is in the A1 Zone, and he wishes to have this rezoned to C1. His neighbors at 131 Hiwassee Road, Kingdom Holding Leasing LLC, have suggested this change. They would be interested in purchasing the land if it were zoned C1. Their property is in the C1 Zone and has a radio station on the property. At the March Planning Commission meeting, the motion to recommend the approval of this request to the County Commission was brought forth and passed. The County Commission must approve this rezoning before the property in question can be changed to C1.

Mike Nixon, Land Use Administrator During the April Smith County Planning Commission meeting, the motion to recommend a new method to allow residential building in residential and agricultural zoned areas not abutting a publicly maintained road with the required minimum 50 feet of road frontage was brought forth and approved by the Planning Commission. A lengthy list of requirements to allow this was discussed for several months before this possible change was approved by the Commission. The County Commission must approve this amendment before any changes occur. The list of requirements will be presented to the County Commission at the meeting on June 24, 2024.
