Obit – Mrs. Carolyn Combs

Mrs. Carolyn Combs age 75 of the Monoville Community departed this life at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning May 7, 2025 at the home of her daughter & son-in-law in the Monoville Community. She was under the care of Amedisys Hospice of Murfreesboro.

Mrs. Combs was at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home and following cremation at the Cumberland Family Services in Algood there will be a memorial service for Ohio family members in Cincinnati, Ohio with her daughter Donna Day Poole delivering the eulogy.

She was born Carolyn Combs in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 31, 1949 and was one of three children of the late William Hopkins Combs who died November 15 2016 at the age of 85 and Lavernia Young Combs White who died January 10, 2008 at the age of 77.

Two brothers preceded her in death, Carl Combs and William H. Combs Jr. and also by a step-son, Christopher Combs.

She was a 1969 graduate of Batavia High School in Batavia, Ohio and following high school attended Claremont Community College also in Batavia.

On January 15, 1997 she was united in marriage to Ralph Combs, also known professionally as Hudson Rivers. He preceded her in death on October 27, 2006 at the age of 57 following only nine years of marriage.

Mrs. Combs was retired in 2012 as an inspector from the ILSCO where they made electrical connectors and where she was employed for over forty-six years.

Mrs. Combs relocated to the Monoville Community in 2012 following her retirement to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Donna Poole and husband Michael; also surviving is a step-daughter-in-law, Carol Combs of Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Mariea Thomas and husband Shawn of the Elmwood Community, Brandon Stone and wife Allie, Christi Combs, and Lillie Combs all of Columbus, Ohio, Michaela Beck and husband d Zachary of Lebanon, Bryce Combs of Columbus, Ohio and Andrew Maynard of Gordonsville; great-grandmother of five; Braylen and Jackson Stone, Athena Thomas, Amaiya Combs and Atreus Beck.
