MURFREESBORO — On the cusp of a potential third straight Class 1A State Championship game appearance, the back-to-back defending champion Gordonsville Tigerettes softball team found themselves facing elimination against Hollow Rock – Bruceton last Thursday at McKnight Park.
After a quiet first inning, the Lady Tigers registered six second frame runs en route to building a 10-1 lead. The Tigerettes would add a combined four runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings resulting in the 10-5 final.
Gordonsville saw their 2025 season and 1A title defense come to an end as the unit compiled a 36-3 record — capturing a District 7-1A regular season and tournament crown, Region 4-1A title and fourth consecutive 1A state tournament appearance along the way.
The Tigerettes’ program saw the illustrious careers of seniors Abby Brinkley, Kailey Plumlee and Bailey Stewart come to a close. During their high school years in the Blue-and-White, Gordonsville compiled a 131-21 record, made four straight Class 1A Tournament appearances and claimed two state titles.
