Obit – Mr. Jimmie Wilkerson

Mr. Jimmie Wilkerson age 73 of the Popes Hill Community was pronounced deceased at 3:45 p.m. Saturday afternoon August 16, 2025 at the Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital in Lebanon following an extended illness.

Funeral services from the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home were conducted Thursday afternoon August 21st with Bro. Richard Smith, from Bide Russell Missionary Baptist Church in the Riddleton Community, and Donnie Slagle officiating. Burial followed in the Bethlehem Cemetery in the Tuckers Crossroads Community.

Born Jimmie Porter Wilkerson in Carthage on October 7, 1951, he was one of three sons of the late Otis Wilkerson who died February 18, 1993 at the age of 60 and Ruby Marie Lawson Wilkerson who died May 22, 1985 at the age of 56.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Lane Wilkerson who died at the age of 51 on February 26, 2010, by a God daughter, Miranda Eulene Duke who died at the age of 35 on August 30, 2011, David Allen Roberts who died at the age of 60 February 8, 2018, sister-in-law, Retta Faye Hesson Wilkerson who died at the age of 58 on January 6, 2022.

Mr. Wilkerson was a retired logger and foreman of saw mill operations at the former Lafayette Manufacturing Co. in Gordonsville.

He was of the Pentecostal faith.

Surviving in addition to his wife of fifty-five years, Jewel Roberts Wilkerson is his brother, Danny Wilkerson; nephews and nieces, Brad McKenzie, Braden, Wesley, and Brittany Roberts; God children, Jordan, Carl, and Amanda Duke, Alliyah, Briar, Emmie, and Destiny Dedmon, Brittany Jenkins, and Cheyenne Edwards; sisters-in-law, Deanna and Kathy Roberts, Lois Sloan; brother-in-law, Billy Roberts.
