Obit – Mr. Johnny Gooch
Mr. Johnny Gooch, age 59 of South Carthage, was found unresponsive at his Hickory Hills home and was pronounced deceased at 2:01 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, September 16, 2025 at the Highpoint-Health Riverview Regional E.R.
Mr. Gooch was at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. He will be cremated at Cumberland Family Services in Algood and a graveside memorial service will be conducted at a later date at the McKinley Memorial Gardens in Carthage and he will be inurned by his mother.
Born Johnny B. Gooch in Carthage on March 28, 1966, he was the son of the late Raymond Fred Gooch who died at the age of 77 on November 19, 1995 and the late Carrie Marie Cowan Mallory.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Lee Gooch Sr. who died as the result of an automobile accident on February 27, 2005 at the age of 44 and by a granddaughter, LaTesha Marie Gooch who died at the age of 27 on November 28, 2018 from a defect she had suffered since birth.
Mr. Gooch attended Smith County High School and spent many years employed in factories, most recently working in distribution for Famous Footwear in Lebanon.
Surviving are his two step-children, James McKinney of Carthage and Crystal Gravins of Alabama; six siblings, Anne Mallory Rutland of Nashville, Patricia Mallory York of Carthage, Peggy Sue Mallory of Carthage, Paulette Gooch Thurman & husband Howard of Hartsville, Hugh Gooch of Carthage, James Gooch of Carthage.
