Obit – Mr. David Earl Gravley, Sr.

Mr. David Earl Gravley, Sr, age 73, of the Elmwood Community of Smith County passed away on Monday September 22, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.

Mr. Gravley was born in Ft. Lee, Virginia on May 1, 1952, a son of the late Early Eugene Gravley and Dorothy Mae Thomas Gravley who survives. He was also preceded by an infant brother. He was married to Debbie Faye Helms on July 4, 1973. David worked in construction, retail management, and retired from Dana after twenty-two years. He loved his family, Jesus, and Tennessee football. He was a member of Christ Church for 25+ years and has been a member of Living Waters Ministry for the last 10 years.

Mr. Gravley is survived by the love of his life: Debbie Gravley of Elmwood, TN: two children David (Jennifer) Gravley, Jr., of Gordonsville, TN and Paula (Henry) Ipock of Elmwood, TN; mother, Dorothy Mae Gravley of Virginia; grandchildren, Kaylena, Holly, Julie, Grace, Abby, Isaih, Kyle, Nicole, Bethany, Jessalyn, and Hannah; fourteen great grandchildren; brothers, Ernest (Caroline) Gravley of North Carolina, Gene (Vickey) Gravley of Virginia, Dennis (Angie) Gravley of Virginia, Dexter Gravley of Virginia and Terry Gravley of Virginia.

Mr. Gravley was at the Gordonsville, TN, chapel of Bass Funeral Homes where funeral services were held Friday September 26, 2025 at 1 PM with Bro Kevin Blackburn and Bishop Richard Blackurn officiating. Interment followed in Smellage Memory Gardens in the Boma community of Putnam County.
