Obit – Mrs. Mary Frances Stewart

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, Mary Frances Stewart, a longtime resident of Gordonsville, TN passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at the Riverview Regional Medical Center.

Frances is the daughter of the late Armel and Gertie Mae Hamlet. Frances spent her childhood years in the White’s Bend/Flynn’s Lick community of Jackson County, TN. Siblings; Bille Joe Hamlet and Helen “Tootsie” Davis preceded her in death. She married Winston Walter Stewart on July 12, 1969.

Mrs. Stewart is survived by Husband; Walter Stewart. Daughter; Michelle Stewart (Sam) McKinney. Step-son; Danny Stewart. Brothers; Jimmy Hamlet and Tommy Hamlet. Sister; Effie (Tommy) Reeves. Sister-in-law; Carolyn Harris. Grandchildren; Daniel (Candace) Stewart, and Kayla (Trent) Johnson. Great grandchildren; Hannah, Wyatt, and Brooklynn. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Frances spent many of her working years at Welsh Company in Gordonsville, TN. In the early 90’s, she started a daycare business which she operated for 25 years. Her daycare children lovingly referred to her as Miss Frances. Miss Frances will be greatly missed. She attended the Carthage Church of Christ.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Stewart were conducted from the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 1PM with Sam Willcut officiating. Interment followed in the Gordonsville Cemetery with Edward L. Anderson officiating.
