Obit – Mrs. Inez Holland

A lifelong Gladdice Community resident, Mrs. Inez Holland, entered into eternal rest with her granddaughter Lindsey at her bedside. She was pronounced deceased at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday afternoon October 28, 2025 at the age of 95 following a recent period of declining health. She was under the care of Gentiva Hospice of Livingston.

Mrs. Holland had prearranged with the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home to be buried between her husband and only child with graveside services only. Graveside services were  conducted by close family friend and neighbor, Bro. Jeff Burton, at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon November 1, 2025. Interment followed in the Gene Butler Cemetery in the Brooks Bend Community.

The only child of the late William Bryan (W. B.) Mabery who died at the age of 80 on February 10, 1977 and Ova Lela Butler Mabery who died at the age of 91 on March 27, 1994, she was born Margaret Inez Holland in the Gladdice Community on September 14, 1930.

Mrs. Holland suffered the loss of her only son, Rocky Lane Holland who died on July 29, 2013 at the age of 58.

Mrs. Holland was a 1947 graduate of the Jackson County Central High School. 

She was saved at the age of 14 and has had her membership at the Smith Memorial United Methodist Church in the Smith Bend Community until her death.

At the home of then Justice of the Peace H. H. White on Main Street in Carthage, she was united in marriage December 22. 1951 to Bagdad Community Ira “Noonie” Holland.

For thirty-eight years of her life, she was employed with the former W. E. Stephens Manufacturing Company in Carthage assigned to do patterns drawing. She retired in 1989.

Surviving are Rocky’s four daughters and Mrs. Inez’s granddaughters, Lindsey Holland of Sparta, Katherine Holland of Peachtree City, Georgia, Ashley Holland of Lincoln, Nebraska, Elizabeth Holland of Nashville; two great-grandchildren, Luke Smith of Crossville and Isabella Grace Amsden of Sparta.
