TDOT shuts down another bridge

The county’s highway department is working to upgrade a bridge in the New Middleton community after it was ordered closed following an inspection by the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT).

Upgrades to the structure began last week and were expected to continue into this week.

The bridge was closed on Monday, November 3, and is located on Mulherrin Road which is connected to Highway 141 a short distance west of New Middleton Elementary School.

Through traffic along Mulherrin Road which connects with Dyer Branch Road, Dennys Branch Lane, Gills Branch Lane and Barnetts Campground Lane is closed while the repair work is taking place.

On Tuesday of last week, Road Superintendent Mickey Barrett hoped the bridge could re-open as soon as this week.
