Obit – Mr. Bill Satterfield

A lifelong South Carthage resident, Mr. Bill Satterfield, died at 11:52 a.m. Saturday morning November 8, 2025 surrounded by his family at the age of 75 at the Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital in Lebanon where he was admitted at 7:15 a.m. that morning suffering from cancer. He was pronounced deceased at 12:21 a.m.

Mr. Satterfield was at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home and all services and burial were private for the family and by invitation only.

He was born on September 10,1950 and was the youngest of three children of well-known South Carthage entrepreneur Joe Rutland Satterfield, who died September 12, 1983 at the age of 69 and Nashville native Tommie Lee McKeen Satterfield who died February 3, 1987 at the age of 64. 

His sister, Patsy Lee Satterfield Dickerson died at the age of 49 on May 17, 1992 and a brother Joe (Joe Joe) Satterfield Jr. died at the age of 70 on October 5, 2010.

His marriage vows were said at the office of former Smith County Clerk Jimmy Norris and Bill was united in marriage on June 6, 1994 by Cliffa Norris to Painesville, Ohio native, the former Jennifer Marie Flarida.

Together they had a wonderful life and their love for each other and common interest made for a joyful life.

Mr. Satterfield was a true outdoorsman and believed providing for his family and extended family and friends was most important.

He was of the Pentecostal belief and was saved by stating of his acceptance of Jesus under the prayers of the Temperance Hall Pentecostal Church.

He was a logger and tree specialist who loved being in the outside.

Mr. Satterfield and his wife of over thirty-one years were the owners of the Highway 25 wood lot where he sold firewood and other items.

He spent most of his early life in Satterfield City in South Carthage where he was reared as a youth.

Surviving in addition to Bill’s wife Jennifer is a large extended family.
