Obit – Mr. Ricky Murphy

Mr. Ricky Murphy, age 66, of Gordonsville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, surrounded by the family he loved so dearly.

Ricky was born on September 15, 1959, in Livingston, Tennessee, to the late Arthur D. Murphy and Darlene Wilson Murphy. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Glenn Murphy and Geraldean Young; his grandson, Matthew Murphy; and his sister-in-law, Lutherene Chaffin.

On March 27, 1976, Ricky married the love of his life, Lois Murphy, and together they built 49 years of memories, family, and devotion. Ricky, who was of the Baptist faith, found joy in hunting, fishing, and spending time with those he held closest to his heart. He worked for Jersey-Miniere and later worked for Grant Cedar Mill.

Ricky is survived by his wife, Lois Murphy of Gordonsville, TN; his three children, Dewayne Murphy of Gordonsville, TN, Anthony (Ashton) Murphy of Gordonsville, TN, and Kristin (Matthew) Fulghum of Lancaster, TN; his two sisters, Judy Murphy of Lebanon, TN, and Maryann (Joey) Hobby of Hartsville, TN; his sister-in-law, Kathy Murphy of South Carthage, TN; his seven grandchildren, Austin Murphy, Mariah Murphy, Caleb Short, Emma Murphy, Makayla Short, Gracelyn Murphy, and Carter Murphy; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many lifelong friends.

Visitation with the family was held at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Sunday, November 30, 2025, from 11am-2pm where funeral services followed at 2pm.

The family requests that memorials be made to assist with funeral expenses.
