Obit – Mr. Shane Gregory
Following a lengthy battle with diabetes and other complications, Mr. Shane Gregory of the Gladdice Community succumbed to his illness at the age of 66 and was pronounced deceased at his Salt Lick Creek home by a paramedic unit from the Jackson County Ambulance Service at 12:57 p.m. Tuesday afternoon January 27, 2026.
Funeral services conducted by Eld. Scott Nesbitt were conducted on Monday afternoon February 2nd at 1 p.m. from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Burial followed beside his wife Hazel, in section four at the Defeated Creek Memorial Gardens.
He was the third of seven children born to the late Frank Mitchell Gregory who died September 17, 2000 at 67 and Ann Dora Denson Gregory who died October 18, 2021 at the age of 84 and was born Lonnie Shane Gregory in Lafayette on June 21, 1959.
A sister, Lena Yvonne Gregory Winfree died June 22, 2018 at the age of 54 and three brothers, Nicky Gregory who died May 5, 2000, Michael Gregory who died November 7, 2008 at the age of 51 and Johnathan Eric “John” Gregory who died May 1, 2016 at the age of 50.
Also, a great-granddaughter, Autumn Gregory died at birth.
His first wife and the mother of his children, Hazel Goad Gregory, died at the age of 31 on December 5, 1991 as the result of an automobile accident on Oak Grove Road near Red Boiling Springs. Hazel was the daughter of the late Dorris Gale Goad who died at the age of 83 on December 27, 2000 and Christine West Goad who died April 11, 2023 at the age of 89.
Mr. Gregory was a retired H.V.A.C. installer and repairman.
Surviving is his daughter, Amanda Gregory of the Gladdice Community, a son, Lonnie Mitchell Gregory of the Riddleton Community; two brothers, Gary Gregory of Lebanon and Jeff Gregory of Lafayette; grandchildren, J. T. Gregory of the Riddleton Community, Ethan Gregory and fiancée Amber Lynn of the Sycamore Valley Community, Skyler Gregory of South Carthage, Lukas Bowdin, Nicholas Overstreet and girlfriend Lee Alley and Dusty Overstreet and wife Ariana all of the Gladdice Community.
