Obit – Mrs. Susan Pearson
Mrs. Susan Pearson of South Carthage passed peacefully from her earthly dwelling place with family at her bedside at the age of 74 at 11:41 p.m. Monday evening February 16, 2026 at the Highpoint Health – Riverview @ Ascension Saint Thomas Medical Center in Carthage where she was admitted on Tuesday evening February 10th being treated for pneumonia.
The family selected the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home to facilitate the cremation process at Cumberland Family Services in Algood. The family will return Susan to Nobleboro, Maine for burial in the Dunbar Cemetery in the East Pond Community.
Mrs. Pearson was the second of three children born to the late Des Moines, Iowa native, Captain Jack Edward Dycus who died April 7, 2010 at the age of 87 and Pearle Corinne Brownlow Dycus who died October 23, 2005 at the age of 74 and was born Susan Christine Dycus on March 25, 1951 in Beaver Dam in Dodge County, Wisconsin.
Her father was a decorated Bombardier with the 8th Air Force during both World War II and the Korean War and retired as a Captain pilot with United Airlines.
In Orlando, Florida on June 6, 1988, she was united in marriage to Damarscotta, Maine native, Henry Beston Pearson.
Mrs. Pearson was a 1969 graduate of Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk, Connecticut and spent in the early 70’s as a foreign exchange student in Peru.
In pursuit of knowledge, she graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor in Education and at Indiana State University in Bloomington, Indiana was awarded her Masters in Education and a certificate of merit as a Master Linguist in Russian, Spanish and African Afrik. While at I. U. she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
She was a retired educator, having taught English as a second language at Orlando Community College and was of the United Methodist faith.
Mr. and Mrs. Pearson made their home at the Pavilion in South Carthage.
Surviving in addition to her husband Harry of almost thirty-seven years are three children, Joshua Beston Pearson and wife Jennifer of the Difficult Community, Shayne McFarland and wife Jamie, Jeannie McFarland all of South Bristol, Maine; sister, Janet Dycus Tyse and husband Jack, Roger Dycus and wife Cathy all of Sarasota, Florida.
