Obit – Mrs. Patty Litchford Rodgers

Mrs. Patty Litchford Rodgers age 56 of Algood and a native of the Rock City Community, was discovered deceased at her Second Avenue North home and was pronounced deceased at her residence at 9:40 a.m. Thursday morning February 26, 2026 by Paramedics from the Putnam County Ambulance Service.

Memorial services were conducted on Monday afternoon March 2nd from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home with her pastor, Eld. Junior Dickerson officiating. A private burial for family members will be in the Litchford Family Cemetery on Beechboard Lane in the Popes Hill Community.

She was one of eight children, five daughters and three sons, born to Mrs. Jimmye Lou Bellar Litchford Swafford of the Rock City Community and the late Harold Thomas Litchford who preceded his daughter in death on February 1, 1996 at the age of 68 and was born Patty Michelle Litchford in Carthage on August 29, 1969.

In addition to her father two of her brothers also preceded her in death, Rickey Lee Litchford who died on March 13, 2008 at the age of 52 and Mickey Dale Litchford who died December 2, 2016 at the age of 63.

Patty was a member of the 1987 graduating class at Smith County High School and following high school graduation attended Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville. While at Tennessee Tech she was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority.

Patty was preceded in death by her husband, retired Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Milburn Smith “Pete” Rodgers III, who died at the age of 62 on December 7, 2025 of cancer.

Patty and Pete loved the lake and were devoted fans of the Tennessee Volunteers and greatly anticipated the start of each football season.

She was an employee of the Putnam County District Attorney’s office where she served as a case worker.

As a youth, Mrs. Rodgers attended the Plunketts Creek Missionary Baptist Church in the Rock City Community with her family.

Surviving in addition to her mother, Mrs. Jimmye Lou is a brother, Tommy Litchford of the Rock City Community, Gail Litchford Dies of Auburntown, Linda Litchford Brewington and husband Martin of Auburntown, Annette Litchford Dies and husband Andrew, Jackie Litchford Underwood and husband Jesse all of the Rock City Community; step-sons, Nicholas Rodgers and wife Bethany, Matthew Rodgers; caregiver, Daniel Brewington.
