Obit – Mrs. Doris Beasley Drennen

Mrs. Doris Beasley Drennen died peacefully on March 10, 2026 at her home in Georgia. She was 79.

Her service was conducted Thursday afternoon, March 19 at 1:00 p.m. at the Marietta Funeral Home in Marietta, Georgia.

Born Doris Jean Beasley in Pleasant Shade on June 3, 1946, she was the daughter of William Hayes “Goat” Beasley Sr. who died on July 27, 1988 at the age of 69, and Mildred Olene “Nig” Beasley Oldham who died on January 8, 2014 at the age of 89.

Mrs. Drennen was a 1964 graduate of Smith County High School where she majored in Social Studies and Business Education and was a member of the basketball team.  She would go on to build meaningful careers with Eastern Airlines as a reservation agent and for Hewlett-Packard as an executive administrative assistant.

She was united in marriage to Massillon, Ohio native Paul A. “Bud” Drennen Jr. who preceded her in death in 2017.  Their marriage was built on love, loyalty, and shared devotion to their family.

A woman of faith, she was saved at the Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church.  After marrying and moving to Marietta, she was a long-time member of the Elizabeth Baptist Church and also regularly attended the Eastwood Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughters, Melanie Schwartz & husband Steven of Canton, GA, Brooke Downey & husband Eric of Roswell, GA;  grandchildren, Hunter Schwartz of Canton, GA, Trey & Liam Anglin of Roswell, GA;  sisters, Carol Gibbs & husband Glen of Rome, Mary Parker of Gallatin, June Hinton & husband Leslie of Portland;  brother, William “Butter” Beasley Jr. of Mount Juliet; sister-in-law, Susie Donohoe & husband Greg of Wooster, OH;  many nieces and nephews.
