Obit – Mrs. Judy Cherry
Mrs. Judy Cherry, of Gordonsville, died at 6:40 p.m. Thursday evening, March 19, 2026 at the Smith County Health and Rehabilitation Center following a period of declining health. She was 77.
Family and friends gathered at the Chestnut Mound Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, afternoon March 23rd for a graveside service with Bro. Richard Smith officiating. Judy was buried beside her son Anthony Scott Cherry.
The family received friends at the cemetery following the service.
Born Judy Faye Glover in Chestnut Mound on March 8, 1949, she was one of three children of World War II veteran Bonnell Thomas Glover who died on September 11, 2012 at the age of 91, and Mildred Elizabeth Huff Glover who died on November 28, 1996 at the age of 65.
On March 29, 1968 at the home of her parents, she was united in marriage to Clay County native Gary Eagle Cherry. They were preceded in death by a son, Anthony Scott Cherry who was born and died on June 13, 1969.
Mrs. Cherry was a 1967 graduate of Smith County High School where she was active in the Future Homemakers of America. She went on to receive her office occupations certificate from the Hartsville Vocational-Technical School. Judy worked as the recorder for the City of South Carthage and later at the front desk of the Carthage Courier before entering the restaurant business until her retirement.
She was a member of the Chestnut Mound Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband of almost 58 years is her son, Brandon Cherry of Gordonsville; a sister, Wanda Wilkerson of Franklin; a brother, Jeff Glover & wife Tina of the Pea Ridge Community.
