Obit – Mr. Clarence (Junior) Davis Jr.

Mr. Clarence (Junior) Davis Jr. of the Brush Creek Community departed this life at the Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital on Saturday afternoon May 9, 2026 at the age of 71. He was admitted May 4th to the medical facility.

Mr. Davis is at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home where his memorial services were scheduled for Wednesday afternoon May 13th at 3 p.m. Eld. William Phillips officiated.

Mr. Davis was one of seven children born to the late Clarence Davis Sr. who died May 13, 2002 at the age 74 and Cora Ann Jackson Davis who died July 21, 2020 at the age of 88 and was born Clarence Davis Jr. in the Buffalo Valley Community of Putnam County on October 3, 1954.

Preceding him in death were two sisters, Linda Davis Delph, Mary Jo Davis Gibbs who died at the age of 47 on September 26, 2004 and Jerry Wayne (Mickey) Davis who died at the age of 19 on April 22, 1978, when struck by an automobile at the top of Popes Hill after getting off work with Mr. Alvin Wilkerson and crossing U. S. #70 (Lebanon Highway).

At the home of the late Eld. Johnny Proffitt in the Lock Seven Community on February 16, 1979, Junior was united in marriage to the former Lillian Rosetta Virginia Grisham.

He retired from the William L. Bonnell Co. in Gordonsville where he was employed for thirty-five years and when he retired in 2014, he worked in the finishing department.

In addition to his work his hobbies were woodworking, fishing, and spending time with his loved ones.

Mr. Davis was of the Emmanuel Church of Christ faith.

Surviving in addition to his wife Lillian, of over forty-seven years is Lillian & Junior’s  daughter, Holly Davis Fordyce and husband George of Baxter and Lillian & Junior’s son, David Wayne Davis of the Brush Creek Community; sister, Brenda Spann of the Elmwood Community; two brothers, Kenneth Davis and wife Daisy of Gainesboro, Michael (Mike) Davis of the Popes Hill Community; three grandchildren, Ashton Phillips and wife Carly of the Defeated Creek Community, Sabastian Phillips and Cayden Fordyce of Baxter; one great grandchild, Asher Phillips of the Defeated Creek Community.
