Obit – Mrs. Jean Smith

Mrs. Jean Rollins Smith, age 94, of Hickman, TN, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2026.

Mrs. Jean was born October 9, 1932, in Gordonsville, TN, daughter of the late Charlie Lee Rollins and Julia Bell Winfree Rollins. Mrs. Jean was a graduate of Gordonsville High School. She married Robert Nelson Smith on April 1, 1956, and he preceded her in death on October 28, 2017. She was also preceded by siblings Frank Roy Rollins, Albert Neal Rollins, James Rollins, Ann Starnes and Ruby Elizabeth Preston: half-sisters, Dorothy Schmidt, Lurlie Mai Winford: half-brothers, Clarence Rollins, Stonewall Jackson Rollins, Roy Rollins and Charlie Cotton Rollins. She worked at the Carthage Shirt Factory, Welsh Company and at the Gordonsville Flower Shop. She was oldest living member of the Hickman Baptist Church.

Mrs. Jean is survived by sons and daughters-in-law; Robert Lee and Jackie Smith of Hickman, TN, and Ronnie and Lisa Smith of Brush Creek, TN. Grandchildren; Cara Clay of South Carthage, TN, and Hillary (Dusty) Miller of Hickman, TN. Great-Grandchildren; Chloe Layne Fleenor and Lyla Jayne Miller.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Jean are scheduled to be conducted from the Hickman Baptist Church on Monday, October 12, 2026, at 2PM. Interment will follow in the Baird Memorial Cemetery, Hickman TN.

Visitation with the Smith family will be held at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Sunday from 1PM until 7PM and again on Monday at Hickman Baptist Church from 10AM until the time of the service at 2PM.

The Smith Family requests donations in Mrs. Jean’s memory be made to Hickman Baptist Church.
