Obit – Mrs. Lavergne Sircy
Mrs. Lavergne Sircy age 94 was called home by the Angels of the Lord 8:09 a.m. Wednesday morning August 14, 2024 at her Peyton Creek Road home with her family at her bedside. She was pronounced deceased at 8:43 am. by High Point Hospice who had been lovingly assisting the family with her care.
Funeral services conducted Saturday August 17th at 3 p.m. from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home with Eld. Rodney Carter officiating. Interment followed beside her husband Dennis in the Beasley-Brooks section at the Dixon Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Sircy was one of seven children, the youngest and the last surviving of three daughters and four sons of the late Frank Edward Henry who died April 13, 1930 at the age of 38 and Lillian Ann Overstreet Henry Clay who died February 28, 1968 at the age of 75, and was born Lillie Lavergne Henry in Old Hickory on February 2, 1930.
Mrs. Sircy experienced the loss of their son, Danny Ray Sircy, who died at the age of 65 on June 20, 2015 and a great-grandson, Dustin Shayne Summers who died at the age of 19 of heart failure on April 14, 2014.
Two sisters preceded her in death, Sadie Henry Roark who died at the age of 71 on January 19, 1991 and Colena Henry Thomas who also died at the age of 71 on June 10, 1996; four brothers Newman Henry who died August 9, 1992 at the age of 65, Edward Franklin Henry who died February 26, 2005 at the age of 82, Melvin Lee Henry who died June 24, 1994 at the age of 77 and J. B. Henry who died June 17, 1991 at the age of 79.
Mrs. Sircy was united in marriage to Jackson County native and World War II Army veteran, Dennis Herbert Sircy who was a Specialist 5th Class and who died November 28, 2006 at the age of 81. They were united in marriage on May 22, 1947 in Trousdale County.
She was a longtime employee of the former Carthage Shirt Corporation until the closing, had been employed at the Hartsville Boot Factory and later worked at the Key Hollow Corporation where she retired in 1974. Mrs. Sircy was saved at the age of 11 and was a charter member of the Monoville Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving are her two daughters, Linda Sircy Summers and husband Eld. Kenneth Summers of the Pleasant Shade Community, Rebecca “Becky” Sircy of the Monoville Community; three grandchildren; Kenny Summers and Amy of the Pleasant Shade Community, Kevin Sircy and wife Cherie of the Cages Bend Community, Jeremy Sircy and wife Julia of the Bowmans Branch Community twelve great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials to the Monoville Missionary Baptist Church.
