Smith County High senior golfer Landyn Kent capped off her high school career with the Region 4-1A individual champion’s third appearance at the Class A State Tournament Championship in four seasons.

Kent placed 21st in the two-day event on October 5th and October 6th at Sevierville Golf Club’s Highlands Course.

“I was in honest disbelief after winning the region tournament and I still am,” said Kent about her reaction to making a third trip to the Class A state tournament. “I loved playing with those lovely girls at state and I feel like I’ve made some lifelong friendships with some of them.”

The senior Lady Owls’ golfer secured a trip to the state tournament on September 24 with a 3 over par 75 performance at Fall Creek Falls State Park golf course in the Region 4-1A tournament which netted first place in the event.

Kent reflected on her senior campaign.

“I think this season was definitely my best performing year,” said Kent. “Going to the state tournament for the third time was a blessing. I’ve worked very hard this year and I gave it a good run. I think I was prepared and enjoyed myself more than I had in previous years because I knew what to expect.”
