Obit – Mr. Chuck Cannon

Mr. Chuck Cannon of the Wilburn Hollow in the Riddleton Community passed away after a long hospitalization at the Select Specialty Hospital on the Saint Thomas Mid-Town Hospital Campus in Nashville at the age of 66. He was pronounced deceased at 3:21 p.m. Saturday afternoon August 24, 2024.

Mr. Cannon is at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home where his funeral services are scheduled to be conducted on Wednesday morning August 28th at 11 a.m. Pastor Drew Eastes and Pastor Scott Davis will officiate. Burial will follow with his parents and Cannon grandparents in the Cannon Family lot in the East section at the Dixon Springs Cemetery.

The Cannon family will receive friends beginning Tuesday August 27th at Sanderson in Carthage from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral services.

Born Charles Wesley Cannon at the United States Air Force Hospital at the Turner Air Force Base in Albany, Georgia on March 26, 1958, he was the third child of three sons and two daughters, born to the late Riddleton Community native, Wesley “Sarge” Cannon Jr. who died September 18, 2012 at the age of 82 and the former Ruby Landon Houston, a native of Nokesville, Virginia, who died April 16, 2007 at the age of 80.

Mr. Cannon was a member of the 1976 graduating class at Smith County High School. There he majored in General Building Trades and was a member of the Vocational and Industrial Club all four years.

He was saved at the age of 17 and was baptized into the full fellowship of the Maces Hill Missionary Baptist Church where he remained a member until death.

He was a supervisor over the test drill department for Jersey Minere Zinc Corporation until 1993 when he formed the Cannon Construction Company and went into business for himself doing home construction and remodeling.

Surviving are his two daughters, Kelsey Cannon Pena and husband Joe of Nashville, Rachel Cannon Scantland and husband Greg of Watertown; two sisters, Cindy Cannon Morgan and husband Johnny of the Granville Community, Jenny Cannon of the Riddleton Community, two brothers, Jeff Cannon and wife Vickie of the Defeated Creek Community, Doug Cannon and wife Crissy Abbott Cannon of the Riddleton Community; two grandsons, Jack & Noah Scantland.
