Locals voting early in Tuesday’s elections

By Eddie West Staff Writer

Residents will be electing a new president, as well as filling a number of state, federal and local offices with Tuesday’s (November 5) elections.

At the end of a half-day of voting on Saturday, October 26, the number of residents taking advantage of early voting was closing in on five thousand.

As of noon, Saturday, 4,790 residents had voted early in the election in Smith County.

Early voting in the election ends Thursday, October 31.

While early voting is gaining in popularity with voters, some residents still favor a longstanding tradition of voting on Election Day.

The Smith County Election Commission has provided residents with a sample ballot which appears in this edition of the Courier.

Residents can review the sample ballot before going to the polls.

National and state offices up for election:

Elections will include the much anticipated Presidential Election between Democratic candidates Kamala Harris and vice president candidate Tim Walz and former President Donald Trump and vice president candidate J.D. Vance.
