Kayak, canoe access ramp at Piper’s Ford open

A new kayak and canoe access ramp to the Caney Fork River recently opened.

The new ramp is located behind the Carthage Junction Depot in Crump Paris Park in South Carthage.

The new ramp gives kayakers another location to take out or launch their vessel.

The ramp is dedicated solely to kayak and canoe enthusiasts.

In fact, barriers prevent boat trailers or vehicles from backing down the ramp.

A gravel road from the Carthage Junction Depot parking lot leads down to the new ramp.

Historically, the area is known as Piper’s Ford.

For those who prefer to stay on dry land, the new ramp offers a scenic view of the Caney Fork River.
