GORDONSVILLE — The Gordonsville High Tigers football team continued their winning ways as the Big Blue offense found pay dirt on their first three possessions en route to a 27-14 victory over Class 4A’s Liberty Creek Wolves.
The Big Blue offense’s quick start allowed the host to build a 20-7 first half lead as Gordonsville welcomed the Wolves, representing Gallatin based Liberty Creek, for the first ever meeting between the programs.
Both unit’s added second half touchdowns as the Tigers improved to 4-0 while Liberty Creek dropped to 1-3 overall.
“Our kids came out and played really hard against a well coached football team and a team that also plays really hard,” said Gordonsville head football coach Stephen Jackson. “Our guys always play hard and we made plays when we needed to make plays and made stops when we had to make stops. All the credit goes to the kids and the great game that they played.”
Jackson continued, “I thought we did a great job defensively and they are really well coached. They make you defend motions, different shifts and the full width of the football field. I thought our guys did a great job against a really good offense.”
Gordonsville’s ground game produced four rushing touchdowns as the unit posted 217 yards on 33 rushes.
