Obit – Mr. Terry Franklin

Mr. Terry Franklin of the Halls Hill Community was discovered deceased at his Hartsville Pike home and was pronounced deceased at 6:55 p.m. Friday evening October 11, 2024. The 65-year-old Mr. Franklin had been in declining health for almost five years.

A memorial celebration of life is scheduled to be conducted from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home on Friday afternoon October 18th at 3 p.m. Mr. Franklin’s pastor, Bro. Billy R. (Bill) Smith will officiate and burial will follow by his mother in section five at the Ridgewood Cemetery.

He was one of two children, a daughter and a son born to the late Bessie Marie Comstock Draper who died at the age of 81 on July 14, 2020. His father, Nathan Elbert “Sonny” Franklin preceded him in death on February 12, 2007 at the age of 67.

Mr. Franklin was a 1978 class graduate at Smith County High School where he majored in science and Co-op trades. While there he was in Vocational Agriculture and the Vocational Industrial Commercial class. 

Mr. Franklin was a former bulldozer operator working with his father’s Franklin Excavating Co.

An accomplished self-taught guitar player, he was an active member of the Light of the World Church in Carthage.

Surviving Mr. Franklin is his sister, Dailene Draper and step-father, Tommy Draper both of Lebanon; two step-sisters, Sherry Thompson and husband Roger, Connie Summers both of Lebanon.
