Charges in three county pursuit

By Eddie West Staff Writer

A woman faces multiple charges, including kidnapping and reckless endangerment, following a lengthy pursuit which began in Gordonsville and ended in Davidson County.

While on patrol in the Gordonsville area, sheriffs department K-9 officer Sgt. Junior Fields attempted to stop a 2007 Nissan Altima, which the woman was driving, at the Shell convenience market parking lot but it pulled out from the business onto Gordonsville Highway without its headlights turned on.

Upon activating the blue lights and siren on his patrol vehicle, the car sped away, turning onto Interstate 40’s west bound entry ramp and traveling onto the thoroughfare.

With Sgt. Fields in pursuit, the vehicle continued traveling west at speeds reaching 120 miles per hour, passing multiple vehicles, almost striking some, according to Sgt. Fields’ report.

Sheriffs department Officer Ian Grigg joined the pursuit which was continued traveling west and into Wilson County.

In an attempt to stop the vehicle, the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) set up spike strips at the 236 mile marker.

Eventually, a THP officer stopped the vehicle at the 216 mile marker in Davidson County where four subjects were detained.
