Obit – Carol LaVonne “Tootsie” Washer Walker
Carol LaVonne “Tootsie” Washer Walker, age 74, of Watertown, TN, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025.
Tootsie was born April 12, 1951, in Killeen, Texas, daughter of the late Buil James Washer & Jo Doris Baker Washer. She graduated from Gordonsville High School in 1969, and earned her degree in elementary education from MTSU in 1972. Tootsie married the love of her life, Billy Walker, on August 31, 1973. To her close friends, she was known as “Tootsie,” the name given to her from her father. To the countless students that she taught over her 43 years at Gordonsville Elementary, she was lovingly known as “Mrs. Walker.” To her precious grandchildren, she was simply known as “Anma.” She was a member of First Baptist Church Alexandria, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years.
Tootsie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years William “Billy” Walker; parents Buil James Washer & Jo Doris Baker Washer; and in laws Gordon & Grace Walker.
She is survived by her three daughters and son-in-laws: Julie & Kent Beasley, Jill & Tim Chappell, and Cindy & Kelsey Evert; six grandchildren Brady Chappell, Lola Chappell, Jack Beasley,Ben Beasley, James Evert, & Camille Evert; special friend Glenda Sykes; sister-in-law Helen Edwards, and niece Angie Garrett, & nephews Steve Edwards & Tim Edwards.
Funeral services for Mrs. Walker were conducted at First Baptist Church, Alexandria on Sunday, July 20, 2025 at 3PM with Bro. Gary Rickman officiating. Interment followed in the Hillview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Billy Walker Memorial Fund at First Baptist Church.
