SCHS LADY OWLS SOCCER STATE BOUND

Shea Haile Courier Sports

The Smith County High Lady Owls soccer team (15-2-1) secured a spot in the program’s first Class 1A State Tournament last Saturday with a dramatic and hard fought 2-1 victory over STEM Prep in the 1A Sectionals.

“I am thrilled to see this team reach this level and to see their hard work pay off with a bid to the state tournament,” said Lady Owls soccer head coach Nicholus Bussell. “This team, along with the teams that came before, has worked tremendously hard to raise the level of play and strive to give it their all on the pitch.”

Bussell continued, “Our game against Stem Prep was very tough and we had to battle till the very end of regulation. In overtime we made some adjustments and the girls gave all they had, they really wanted it bad. So all the praise goes to them and they found a goal and held off the opponents till the final whistle.”
