Obit – Mrs. June Farley McKinney

Mrs. June Farley McKinney (affectionately known as Mama June), age 93 of Gordonsville, TN, passed away on October 27, 2025.

Mrs. McKinney was born on December 12, 1931, in Monoville, TN to the late John D. Farley and Belva Key Farley. She was a graduate of Smith County High School. Mrs. McKinney started her career at the Head Start of Smith County working with children with special needs. In 1974, she was elected Register of Deeds of Smith County and was re-elected for two additional terms, serving a total of 12 years. She later co-founded First Tennessee Realty, where she enjoyed selling real estate and working with the public for many years.

A Charter Member of Gordonsville First Baptist Church since 1965, Mrs. McKinney taught Sunday School and served actively with the Youth for many years.

Above all, Mrs. McKinney was devoted to her family. Her greatest joy was gathering with loved ones to share meals and laughter. Her legacy will live on in the lives she touched with her incredible strength, kindness, and unwavering care.

Mrs. McKinney was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Ray McKinney (d. December 8, 1989); her son-in-law, Lynn Conger; her grandson, Camron Ray Conger; and by her sisters: Jere (Malcolm) Crews, Helen (George) Carlton, Neal (Shelly) Watts, Margaret (Bill) Harrison, Billye (Van Robert) Gibbs, Betty Jo (Walter) Jared; and brother Willis (Willie) Farley. She was one of eight children.

Mrs. McKinney is survived by her children: Peggy (Randy) Kinnard, Sam (Michelle) McKinney, Vicki Conger, and Kim (Charles) Hicks. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, whom she adored: Dr. Jeremy (Lisa) McKinney, Cannon (Emme) Kinnard, Jessica June Kinnard, Tyler (Dr. Adrienne) Conger, Carson (Meredith) Hicks, and Keely Hicks; and great-grandchildren: Gabriel, Micah, and Chloe McKinney; Elliot and Isaac Conger; Echo and Ender Kinnard.

Services for Mrs. McKinney were held at Gordonsville First Baptist Church on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., with Bro. Brandon Patton, Bro. Ray Gilder, and Mark Medley officiating. Interment followed in the Gordonsville Cemetery.

The family requests that donations be made to the Gordonsville First Baptist Church Building Fund, 70 Main St. East, Gordonsville, TN 38563.
