Obit – Mr. Carroll Overstreet
A longtime Elmwood Community resident passed peacefully into eternal rest while sitting beside his beloved wife of over sixteen years on the sofa at their Peaceful Haven Farm home in Franklin, Tennessee.
Mr. Carroll Overstreet was pronounced deceased at the age of 86 on Sunday evening, September 27, 2026, at 7:17 p.m.
Services at Mt. Zion Church were held Wednesday afternoon, September 30th, beginning at noon for visitation, with the funeral service at 1 p.m. Michael Overstreet delivered the eulogy. Burial with military honors by American Legion Post #57 of Carthage followed the funeral service.
Orbin Carroll Overstreet was born October 3, 1939 in the Sullivans Bend Community and was the son of the late Orbin Carson Overstreet and Ruby Carolyn Overstreet Allison.
Mr. Overstreet graduated from Central High School in Nashville in 1958, was a dedicated employee of the Ford Glass Plant in Nashville for 35 years before retiring in 1995, and was a member of the United Auto Workers Local #737.
Mr. Overstreet also proudly served our country beginning in 1963 with the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was stationed in Germany.
He was united in marriage to his best friend and the love of his life, Louise Davis Overstreet, on the lawn at her then Spring Hill, Tennessee, home on May 10, 2010.
He was saved at an early age and joined the then Mt. Zion United Methodist Church (now Mt. Zion Church) in the Sullivans Bend Community, where he remained a member until his death.
Mr. Overstreet, a soft-spoken and kind-hearted Southern Gentleman, loved the land, enjoyed farming, and the family’s horses. Everyone who met him knew him to be a kind soul.
Surviving, in addition to his wife Louise, are his daughter, Jennifer Overstreet Earps, and her husband, Lee, of Nashville; two stepdaughters, Lisa Kirkpatrick of Franklin and Dana Kirkpatrick of Murfreesboro; granddaughter, Caroline Roe of Nashville; and his beloved border collie, Dolly.
The family has requested memorials to the Mt. Zion Cemetery Mowing Fund.
